Brescia. Not only a positive economic result – the best in the 105 years of life of the credit institution with headquarters in Brescia – but also the consolidation of a path of growth and rooting of the bank in the territory of Brescia and Lombardy. A balance sheet that BTL Banca – represented by Chairman Ubaldo Casalini and General Manager Matteo De Maio – is preparing to bring to the approval of the next Shareholders’ Meeting scheduled on second call for Saturday 11 May 2024 at the Brescia Exhibition Centre.

BTL closed the 2023 financial year with a profit of EUR 28.7 million (it had been EUR 9.1 million in 2022), above all on the strength of a harmonious growth of the main balance sheet indicators and intermediated masses, and of a decisive increase in customers and shareholder base, a sign of an ever-increasing consolidation of its role as a local bank.

The expansion of the client and social base continued. Thanks to the campaigns launched during the year, 2023 in fact saw its presence grow in the Brescia and Lombardy area thanks to the opening of 6,100 new current accounts, bringing the total number of customers to over 83,500, with double-digit growth also in all related services (Internet banking, credit and debit cards).

There was also a decisive increase in the number of members, to 10,974, with 1,668 new members, thanks to the decisive contribution of women – 763 new members in 2023 alone (in addition to 586 in 2022), the number of women exceeding the 3,000 mark – and young people under 35, with 470 young members joining in 2023 alone.

Numbers that attest to the bank’s rootedness in its territory – 66 branches, 83,500 customers, 11,000 members and 393 collaborators – also thanks to its commitment on a number of fronts considered strategic and consistent with its mission as a local and cooperative bank: from health to culture, from sport to the promotion of the territory, from financial education to ESG and environmental sustainability issues.

“We are evidently satisfied with the economic result that emerged from the 2023 financial statement figures,” commented Chairman Ubaldo Casalini, “but we look above all at the more general path that BTL Banca is building year after year to become an increasingly important point of reference for the Brescia and Lombardy communities. In this sense, we believe that operating profit will never be an end, but a tool to continue to strengthen our solidity and the value of our presence in the territory.

Returning to the 2023 numbers, they are the result of teamwork that, starting with the Board of Directors, the Board of Statutory Auditors and the Management, has involved and committed the entire organisational structure made up of our 400 employees, to whom our first thanks go.

On Saturday 11 May at the Brixia Forum we will meet with the membership to illustrate the balance sheet and more. It will be an opportunity to take stock of the various initiatives and events that in recent years have allowed us to grow not only in terms of balance sheet indicators, but also in the relevance and quality of our relationships in the area, capable of responding to the most modern customer service needs thanks to the support of the Cassa Centrale Group, which is always present thanks also to successful partnerships with some of the excellence of the Brescia area. We are and want to be more and more a ‘bank of the territory’, at the service of the many customers and shareholders who confirm their trust in us every day”.
