Brescia renews the 50% discount on annual public transport passes for university students

The City of Brescia, Brescia Mobilità Group and the city’s higher‑education institutions have renewed their joint commitment for the 2026/2027 academic year, confirming the 50% discount on annual public transport passes for university students. The initiative involves all major institutions in the city: the University of Brescia, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart – Brescia campus, the SantaGiulia Academy of Fine Arts, LABA, the Luca Marenzio Conservatory, ITS Academy Machina Lonati and Ciels – School of Linguistic and Sociocultural Mediation.

Thanks to the strengthened financial contribution of all partners, students will once again be able to purchase the annual pass at half the standard student rate, supporting daily mobility and encouraging the use of buses and the metro as convenient and sustainable alternatives to private vehicles. Over the past decade, this measure has generated growing participation and has allowed families to save more than €800,000 in the last academic year alone.

The discounted pass allows students to travel across the entire urban network for a full year at reduced prices: €140 instead of €275 for Zone 1 (Brescia city) and €215 instead of €425 for Zone 1+2, which includes Brescia and 14 neighbouring municipalities. To meet different scheduling needs, students can choose the start date of their pass: 1 September, 1 October, 1 November or 1 December 2026.

A dedicated option for first‑year Medicine students

The solution designed for first‑year students of Medicine and Surgery, affected by the national “filter semester”, has also been confirmed. To ensure access to an affordable and flexible travel option, the annual pass can be purchased in two instalments.

The first instalment, already available online and at Tourism and Mobility Infopoints, is valid until 31 January 2027. The second instalment, reserved for students continuing into the second semester, will be available from 15 January 2027 through the same channels.

This formula maintains the convenience of the discount both for students who will continue the Medicine programme for the full academic year and for those who, after the open semester, will move to a different degree course.

Additional discounted options

Students who use public transport occasionally can choose reduced‑price packages of 50 rides (valid for 3 or 6 months) or 100 rides (valid for 9 months). The special benefit for university students using Bicimia, the city’s bike‑sharing service with 98 stations, is also confirmed: no €20 deposit is required for students enrolled in Brescia’s universities.
